Football Shirt Tutorial

This is a tutorial I created for you all, on how to create a Football shirt shaped cake.

This is the shirt I created for a little boy obsessed with the Football club Arsenal.

1/ Firstly I started with a square sponge.  The size of the sponge will depend on how many cake portions you want to get from it.  I made a 10 inch square sponge.

I then created a 10 inch paper square, the same size as the cake to create a template.

2/ Next I measured a section for the width of the shirt I wanted. As you can see 18cm.

3/ After that I carefully measured out two arms sections, from the remaining section as you can see in the pictures below.

4/ Once the sections have been measured equally and cut out, it should look like this.

5/ Next is to cut out the second arm section from the sponge, using the template.

6/  The remaining sponge will need to be cut to size, using the second arm section you measured and cut earlier.

7/  Then I placed it in position on the other side of the cake, and reversed the main template to cut it to the same size as the other arm section.

8/ All that's left is to fill, ice and decorate your sponge! Good luck, and if you create a cake using my tutorial I'd love to see a picture of the finished cake :o)

Mummy Makes Cakes

Hi! My name is Rachel, and I am honoured to be Mum to two great kids and a staffie :o)

We are a small bespoke cake bakery based in our own home.  Every cake is personal to the individuals likes and interests.  My recipes are tried, tested and developed by me, with the kind aid of my family and my local cake panel.
Be assured you won't find our cakes on a
supermarket shelf :o)

All cakes are baked fresh, no more than a few days before delivery.  We use fresh, locally or homemade produced (if possible), high quality ingredients.

Mummy Makes Cakes is an insured registered business, with Huntingdonshire District Council's Environmental Health Department.  I hold a level 2 qualification in catering, and well as having cake decoration running in my genes! :o)  My great aunt was a very reputable cake decorator back in her day, with people coming from a far to visit her shop and order a cake.  I also hope to have one just like hers one day! Maybe with a little tea shop in the front.  I can still remember  as a little girl, being in the back of the shop adoring all the decorations and ribbons. So if anyone is holding a winning lottery ticket and is looking for a good cause to donate money to, you know where I am ;o) He he!

We also deliver to Kent several times a year, as I have family in the area.

I have developed a Facebook page where I spend alot of my time: www.facebook.com/MummyMakesCakes  This has a message facility where you can contact me for cake enquiries.  I am always happy to help!

I am also on Twitter, where you can often see me helping and offering advise on everything from, how to twitter to cake flavours to nitter natter! Lol! www.twitter.com/MummyMakesCakes

Special diets
I am happy to try anything you have in mind, and cater for those with special dietary requirements.  Please note: My business is based from my own home, and I do use nuts in my kitchen, so I can not guarantee that any cake will be nut-free.  I am a member of Coelaic UK, and use different utensils for those requiring cakes that are gluten/wheat free.

Deposits - Our system, our thoughts...

Hi everyone!

Sometimes things are just beyond your control, and despite reminding people things just don't quite work out.  This is a lesson I am currently learning!  Despite me being the type of person who likes to help everyone and make everyone's day, I've got to look out for myself too!  I have a young family to feed and spend time with, and getting left out of pocket with a non-collected cake is just not a risk I can take!

I operate a system for deposits, where deposits are paid within 48 hours of a cake request. Then two weeks before the cake is due this deposit becomes non-refundable, because this is the time when I start buying items for the order.  Such as personalised ribbon, beading, sprinkles, cake supports, cake boards, cake boxes etc...  That deposit would also help towards the costs I have paid out, if a customer fails to collect.

Please, please make sure if you are poorly or unable to get to me you arrange with someone else to assist you, or even phone or message me to let me know what's going on.  I may be able to deliver if I'm passing through the area.

MUMMY MAKES CAKES - DEPOSIT SYSTEM

  1. Deposit required on booking or within 48 hours of booking, to secure your cake.
  2. This deposit is refundable to you until two weeks before the cake is due. After this time the deposit is no longer refundable, and you will lose it if you fail to collect/or be at delivery for the cake.
  3. Deposits are half the price of your total costing.  The costing will include delivery, and/or special arrangements previously agreed.

REMEMBER - NO DEPOSIT = NO CAKE!
